Which palm foam do I need?

Which palm foam should I pick?

For many amateur and professional goalkeepers, the palm foam is the most crucial component of a goalkeeper glove. Regardless of the features it has, at the end of the day, the grip is what matters most. That's why at KEEPERsport, we use only the finest, proven palm foams for all our Varan goalkeeper glove models.

How is a Glove Palm Foam made?

Palm foam consists of a foam layer responsible for cushioning and a latex layer that provides the grip between the ball and the glove. There are various methods for applying this structure to the glove.

Cushioning - More Important Than Grip?

The thicker the foam layer, the better the protection from sharp shots. Conversely, a thinner layer allows for more flexibility and better ball control. Our cushioning layers, developed in close collaboration with professional goalkeepers, are tested and confirmed at the highest level.

Find the Perfect Grip

Remember: the softer the latex, the better the grip. The better the grip, the shorter the lifespan of the palm foam. Any contact with foreign objects (ball, fingers, velcro, cord, etc.) creates abrasion on the latex. Naturally, wear is higher with softer latex mixtures. However, gloves with a harder latex layer last longer. The best analogy to think of is this: it's like a car braking: friction and abrasion occur between the tires and the road surface.
