Which grip is right for me?

For many goalkeepers, the grip foam is the most important feature of a goalkeeper’s glove. No matter what other features a model offers, it’s the grip that counts in the end. That’s why, in our Hero, Champ and Pro models, we only use grip foams that have proven themselves in training and on match day.

How is a glove surface constructed?

A grip foam consists of two layers. The foam layer provides cushioning, whilst the latex layer on top ensures grip between the ball and the glove.

Cushioning: more important than grip?

The thicker the foam layer, the better you’re protected against hard shots. A thinner layer, on the other hand, gives you more flexibility and therefore better ball feel. Our linings are developed in close collaboration with professional goalkeepers, and every cushioning layer is tested by them before it goes into production.

Find the perfect grip

Here’s a rule of thumb to help you: the softer the latex, the better the grip. The better the grip, the shorter the glove’s lifespan. It sounds complicated, but it isn’t. Every contact with the ball, the ground, your fingers or the Velcro fastening causes abrasion. Softer latex wears out more quickly, whilst harder latex lasts longer but offers less grip. Our product development team likes to compare this to a car tyre when braking: friction occurs between the tyre and the road, resulting in abrasion.

    Tip for dry conditions: Keep the palm slightly moist for optimal grip.

  • 4mm Supreme Claw

    Following extensive testing with professional and amateur goalkeepers, we have developed an extremely tacky professional-grade latex. The Supreme Claw offers the best grip straight out of the packet – you don’t need to break it in first. And you’ll soon come to love that characteristic sound it makes when you catch the ball.

    Because the compound is so soft, initial grip is clearly prioritised over durability here.

  • 4mm Performance Claw

    The palm foam of the 4mm Performance Claw contains visible graphite particles, offering outstanding grip in all weather conditions. This palm foam is the ultimate all-rounder among match foams due to its perfect grip-to-durability ratio. Legends like Gigi Buffon trusted this top palm foam throughout their careers.

  • 4mm Claw

    The 4mm Claw – a surprisingly high-quality palm foam that stands its ground even in adverse weather conditions. Another advantage is its extraordinary robustness, guaranteeing remarkable durability.

  • 3mm Claw

    The 3mm Claw is specifically designed for intensive training sessions. Its strengths lie primarily in the price-performance ratio and longevity. This palm foam is an ideal alternative for beginners compared to more expensive models. While it provides good but not excellent grip, goalkeepers must focus more on catching techniques during training sessions, ultimately benefiting from superior grip in games.

    The professional special palm foam offers unbeatable grip even in the most challenging weather conditions. Whether rain, drizzle, or snow – you can rely on the 4mm Aqua Claw. Due to its unparalleled grip, many goalkeepers use the Aqua palm foam even in dry conditions. However, despite its extraordinary robustness, it is not suitable for artificial turf in dry conditions.
